Job Description

TOS People is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to join an MPSV operating on standby in Las Palmas.

The successful candidate will oversee the vessel's engineering department and ensure the safe and reliable operation of its machinery, electrical systems, and propulsion equipment.

Previous experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems is mandatory. Candidates should have relevant experience in a senior engineering role on MPSV or similar offshore vessels.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the engineering department.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of diesel-electric propulsion systems.
• Ensure the reliable operation of generators, auxiliary machinery, and technical systems.
• Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and maintain machinery in operational condition.
• Supervise engineering personnel and coordinate maintenance activities.
• Maintain technical records, engine-room logs, and maintenance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with onboard safety procedures and applicable environmental requirements.
• Coordinate with the Captain to maintain vessel readiness during standby operations.

Requirements

• Relevant experience as a Chief Engineer on MPSV or similar offshore vessels.
• Previous experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems – mandatory.
• Valid Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency appropriate to the vessel and position.
• Valid STCW certificates.
• Valid medical fitness certificate and other required seafarer documents, as applicable.
• Strong knowledge of marine engineering, machinery maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Good English communication skills.
• Strong technical leadership and maintenance-management skills.
• Availability to join ASAP.
• Ability to join and sign off in Las Palmas.
