Job Description
Windstar Cruises is seeking an experienced 2nd Engineer to join its luxury cruise fleet.
The 2nd Engineer will play a key role in maintaining a culture of safe, environmentally compliant and efficient engine-room operations. The position is responsible for supervising and managing assigned machinery-space equipment, ensuring compliance with Flag, Class and company requirements, and maintaining accurate technical records.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong culture of safe and environmentally compliant operations onboard.
- Manage and monitor the operation of engine-room machinery and equipment.
- Ensure machinery operations comply with Flag State, Class and company requirements.
- Carry out assigned engineering duties and responsibilities according to company procedures.
- Complete accurate machinery history, performance and maintenance records in the company's database.
- Conduct proactive machinery-space inspections before and during assigned watches.
- Ensure safe working conditions are maintained throughout the engine department.
- Monitor compliance with environmental procedures and regulations.
- Identify machinery defects, operational risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Support quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the machinery spaces.
- Work closely with the Chief Engineer and engineering team to maintain operational readiness.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a 2nd Engineer – mandatory.
- Proven experience onboard cruise ships, preferably luxury cruise vessels.
- Valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) appropriate to the rank.
- Valid STCW certification.
- Valid medical fitness certificate.
- Strong knowledge of engine-room machinery and technical systems.
- Good understanding of Flag State, Class, safety and environmental requirements.
- Strong leadership, organizational and troubleshooting skills.
- Good command of English.
- Ability to work effectively within a multinational cruise-ship team.
- Availability to join on 31 December 2026.
